If you could attend an SEO Theory class …

by Michael Martinez on January 6, 2009

I have not mentioned this before but Visible Technologies developed an SEO class for clients last year, and we have provided clients with various SEO tutorials, tip sheets, and resources for the past couple of years.

We also receive quite a few email questions about SEO. I have to be careful about how I answer the questions we receive in email. Sometimes I’ve been able to provide helpful answers and sometimes I’ve had to point people to the SEO Theory blog. It seems like we could do a little more….

So we can offer SEO classes to the general community if people are interested. They would be taught here in Seattle. We’ll teach a class if at least 5 people sign up, max of 10 per class.

Which class do you want to sign up for: Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced SEO?

The Basic SEO class includes an introduction to SEO, keyword research, optimizing Web site design, copy development techniques, analytics, and a smattering of related topics. Some site analysis would be performed for each student. Cost: $3,500.00 US for 2 days.

The Intermediate SEO class covers search market analysis, linking strategies and resources, search trends analysis, server log analysis, query space development, research techniques, site management fundamentals, and some aspects of Large Web Site Theory. Some site analysis would be performed for each student. Cost: $3750.00 US for 2 days.

The Advanced SEO class covers SEO testing and case studies, query space management, advanced trends analysis, advanced Large Web Site Theory (including navigation and structure, optimization for CMS, etc.), Network Optimization Theory, and advanced linking theory. Some site analysis would be performed for each student. Cost: $4000.00 US for 2 days.

The Advanced class will assume more knowledge on your part. You don’t need to know HTML for the Basic class but you should know enough HTML to design a simple Web page for the Intermediate class and you should be well beyond caring about the “CSS-versus-tables” arguments for the Advanced class.

If you have never optimized a site, obviously the Basic SEO Class would be the one for you. If you have optimized sites but struggle to dominate search results or don’t see how to improve your return on investment, the Intermediate SEO Class is probably where you want to be. If you can get any old blog or business brochure site to rank well but you’re challenged by the large sites, coordinating multiple queries, have flat traffic, etc. then you probably want the Advanced SEO Class.

Each class has a Q&A period and you’ll receive a class manual.

We would probably teach the class(es) in March, maybe April. If we get enough interest for all three classes they’ll be scheduled on the basis of demand (number of commitments).
