A beautiful guide. For me directories is the most effective in One way Link building.It is also the easiest way, putting our link to the related directories and we don’t see any problems in directories as long as we follow the guidelines. I think ads and press release may also include in one way link building

Thanks for pointing that out to me about Google Says… The blog still exists. The link was broken but I have now fixed it.

The correct URL is http://google-says.blogspot.com/ but I have not written anything there for several years. I kept the blog live for personal reasons. I’m not sure how relevant any of my comments there would be today.

Thanks for your insight. I have been putting together my new site during the last couple of months and have been reading everything I could find about SEO. Today, I started wondering about how useful links from directories would be for me. I remembered vaguely that I had read some words of caution, but I couldn’t remember why.

Your great article helped answer my question, but more importantly, it gave me a methodology and basis for deciding how any other SEO efforts should be evaluated as well.

It’s extremely important to define the path we’ll follow as SEOs. In my opinion, it’s better to have a clear plan than to simply flounder about and try things willy-nilly.

You’ll find, however, that I’m no fan of “PR sculpting”. But that’s all I’ll say here.

I have been silently reading through a number if posts and it has put my ‘SEO knowledge’.

As you put in an earlier/later post write an ebook every year on SEO and then update it the next.

If I did this 2008 would consist of 1) Build links via comments 2) build links via social media 3) build links via XYZ 4) PR sculpting via ‘rel=nofollow’.

The 2009 version will hopefully be a lot better and more fact then myth
